Oh hi there,

 I've decided that what I dislike about this place are the rules, I know 'rules are there for a reason' etc, however, in the housing, I am paying rent, $88 a week, and I would like to be able to have whoever I want in my flat, until whenever I want. I mean this isn't really a big deal for me, as I'm not bringing boys back or whatever, but anyone who doesn't live in Chatham cannot be here past 1am, it should be more like uni, where they treat you like an adult. 

 Also yesterday in work, I clocked in 15 minutes early, which is like a grace period, you do not get paid for, I don't even know why you can clock in, so I clocked in then got changed, so was all ready within 5 minutes of clocking in, THEN I got told off, because youre supposed to be ready when you clock in, even though Its really MY 15 minutes. This stole my happy mood and made me annoyed. Urgh. It is reallly hot at the moment, I have never sweated whilst working like I sweat here, especially during parade where there is no shade, its horrific! 

 I got a lift home from work, which saved me waiting half an hour for the bus, I finished at 7 and was home by 7:21, if I had got the bus, it would have been 8:30 at the earliest. I chilled with the flat girls for a bit then went upstairs/nextdoor to some guys apartment that I know, and we just watched TV for a bit, firstly it was nice to watch TV, secondly I was nice to be around straight males, it makes a change from all the bitchy gay guys I have met, don't get me wrong there are lots of lovely gay guys here as well, but there are a few that are just as bitchy as any of the girls. I felt like I was in halls or something again, their apartment is homely, well as homely as boys will ever make it. 

 So thats about it, I have a lack of photos, I think because I have been tagged in loads and I keep forgetting to take any on nights out. 

 I think I'm going out tonight and tomorrow night, and I have work until 7:15 tonight and 8:15 tomorrow, so that will be fun!
 Also the other things that has really pissed me off, we got an email saying theres been a change to our visa requirements and we now have to partake in 2 cultural events a month, so like a housing event (like grocery bingo or voluntEaring) or go out with some different culuture to something like a museum, I'm like WTF!!! So on our day off we have to do something else, I don't even see how they can check, apparently if you go to a housing event they scan your ID, I mean fair enough theres some events I do want to go to, but we only have July and a bit of August, they can't expect us to do two events in August, I leave here on the 17th!! 

 Day 5 of 6 here we go!

Happy days

Oh hi there,
I hadn't realised my last post hadn't posted, I think it was meant for Tuesday! Woops!
Today is Friday, and once again I'm waiting for the bus, this is where I do most of my blogging.
I'm on day 4/6 however it's gone pretty quickly, we have been soooo busy, yesterday we were 5000 over he expected, and you can feel it web the parks busy!
No new drama, I got a bite at work and it's classed as a work place injury and it swelled up really big, so my coordinator and manager had to look at it then they said I could go to the health place for cast but it's at Epcot and I would have had to get the bus there, however since I'm not allowed to over react at home, and I'm not American I was like its fine I will just see how it goes. If I was American I would probably be in hospital on a drip, they love over reacting.
Yesterday I decided to get a bus that would get me in 9 mins early, but it was 2 mins late so I had to walk/ run as we cant run in front of guests, and I made it, clocked in at 29 past! I am a bit worried I may have a repeat today as the bus isn't here and I have to get changed when I get in but I don't start until 10:45 today so I have 25 mins when I arrive, of the bus arrives!
Erm nothing else really, me and Nicola got hit on at a ATM at the mall, that's a new one! Creeeeeepy, all such creeper here! Also so many times people have assumed because we are British we smoke stuff, we are like no thanks, ew!
Yes bus is here, 6 minutes late!
I potentially am going out Saturday Sunday Monday, but working Sunday as well! Only live once and all that.
Last night went to down town Disney for food, went to wolf gang puck, teas lovely!

Good work day

Oh hi there,

Yesterday I didn't start work until 12:45, despite going in with Hannah and Nicola and they were going to play in DAK it was quite a good day, it was a short shift, 6 hours 15 mins. I got the girls VIP for the 1pm show. We were so so busy at every show because Everest was down so there wasn't a lot to guests to do at animal kingdom.. It got to the point where we were turning people away and I had one woman asking if this one child could come in, he was crying his eyes out but there was nothing I could do, we were full. People were standing and stuff.
I then had parade and surprisingly it wasn't cancelled and I had ropes, which meant following the parade at the end of it! So I felt like part of it. And I was away from nemo for 2 hours. Sometimes I'm amazed at the way everything goes so smoothly with Disney, when we are walking with the rope, either side cast members are clearing ropes so paths are clear and guests can follow behind.
After work I went to meet the girls at Epcot and we had a wander and watched the fire works. The guest buses are so quick I was with them within 40 mins of finishing work. The cast bus back from Epcot is every 15 mins and takes 15 mins to get backc amazing, compared to DAK, where you finish and don't get home for hours!
I'm working 11-7 today. Hopefully parade will be on.
I had requested time off for when angel is here, however it's been rejected as you have to request 3 weeks in advance, I don't think I've even been working for 3 weeks. Oh well I will have to try and shift swap or something.

Productive day

Oh hi there,
So I woke up on Monday morning, well got woken up by my roommate who just I don't think she thinks about me, I don't know how such a small person makes so much noise! So that was like 8:30 am which was exactly what I wanted when I got to bed about 4am, maybe that's why she's being noisy! However she did it again this morning, no excuses. I miss my flat!
So anyway I made an omelette, eggs are cheap here! Then spoke to angel to try and sort out which days to request off, he arrives on the 11th so I've requested 12th and 13th and to swap my normal days off which are Monday and Tuesday's, but I don't know how likely it is that I will get any of my requests. I will try and give away shifts, as I need to make the most of seeing him and having a car!!!
So after that I did some washing, needed clean underwear, I lost a sock somewhere along the line! I then went to the commons to pick up my complimentary passes for friends an family, just as well that I did because they had my home home address on and they wouldn't be much good there.
So then by this point I decided I had to go to a park, so me, Nicola and any went to Hollywood studios, did the backlot tour, Indiana jones, little mermaid ( LOVED that ) tower of terror and rocking roller coaster. Not bad considering we didnt go until 4pm! Really wanted to see beauty and the beast however it was full, plenty of time left.
So now I'm waiting for the bus to work for day one of 6 and the bus for Florida mall just went passed, argh!

Sleeping in a hurricane

Oh hi there, 

 Well not a lot to say really I'm on my second day off, but stuck inside again as it is sideways raining. Apparently there is a storm coming through, so we are getting tornado warnings, someone has been killed by a tornado, not at Disney but http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/355795/20120624/tropical-storm-debby-tornado-florida-kills-woman.htm thats the link if you want to read more.

 Yesterday I was pissed off, as the toilet flooded, I had to clean it all up, my roommate didn't understand when I asked her to get a mop so I scrubbed it all up. Then I got blamed for leaving the tea kettle on the hob and its all burned out, when I had been out allllll day, then eaten out, so I was like wtf, I cannot even have a cup of tea now! So I skyped Tommy then went shopping to make myself feel better. I ended up spending quite a lot in AE, but it was all sale so that's fine! 

 The previous night, after work we went to Dollar Tree, which is like pound land, omg it was amazing, apart from the one thing I wanted, a pack of cards, they didn't have, they had tarot cards, bible cards, magic trick cards, but no normal cards! We then went to CiCi's pizza, which for $5 was unlimited pizza, drinks, salads and pudding, theres no wonder they have an obesity problem. 

 Last night, went to HOB (house of blues) which is at Down Town Disney, and it was as good as ever, standard creepy guys. I have never been anywhere that the men are so pervy, I mean it may be that the Americans are out in flat shoes and peddle pushers (seriously who wears them!?1? Where can you even buy them?!) and I'm there in my high heels and LBD, but you can take the girl out of Newcastle but you can't take the Newcastle out of the girl.

 So we got a cab back because we were not hanging around for the bus, made friends with the drivers, Mo, legend, he took us to McDonalds, I didn't get any food, as Macys just don't do it for me, I was quite proud of myself and then brought us back and charged us hardly anything and gave us his card so we can request him. Legend.

 And that's about it, IMO currently sitting inside watching the rain :( I'm working 6 days in a row, not happy about this, of course I'm working over 4th of July, as are most people but if the weather stays like this then I'm not bothered and I guess I can go shopping with the money!

Same same

Oh hi there,

I haven't written for a couple of days as I have just been at work and have not been up to much.
Yesterday was a long day as I had my social security meeting which meant getting up at 5am to leave from the Commons at 6, we were there by 6:30 and they opened up especially for the Disney lot. We were told not to talk to anyone outside as they would be pissed off that we got special access. We went on the first bus which was good as it meant we were back at Chatham by 8:20! So went back to bed for an hour and a half before work.
Got to work, went to clock on and in at 12 and it was telling me I wasn't supposed to be there until 1:15, but all my schedules said 12, so they sorted it out and I started at 12 but then all my breaks were messed up. I also did house centre, the dreaded position, got through it, just! Still dread that one. I'm only here like 8 more weeks don't see why I can't just avoid it!
We went to go to Hooters last night, though we would get a taxi as its at the end of our street, there's just a massive road in between, well the taxi driver took us to the complete wrong place, so we just got out at the cross roads and went to TGI Fridays, which was really nice as well. We will get to Hooters one day!
That's about it. I'm off after today for the next two days, don't know what I will do, I will see who's off.

Character breakfast

Oh hi there,

I'm writing about today and it's only 10:43 but that's because the most exciting part of my day has already happened.
Despite being really tired, I made myself get up and be at vista for 9 am,for free breakfast and meet with Minnie and Mickey, it's a PJ party. Though I didn't wear my PJs. So breakfast was good, pancakes, French toast, free juice etc. We didn't meet mickey and Minnie as the queue was so so long so we chilled at the DJ area and entered the hulla hoop contest I reckon I came about 3rd! We also won some cool Disney internships sunnies, awesome!
It was actually really cool, I'm not sure if it's because we work for Disney so everyone is super enthusiastic but if uni put on an event at 9am with free food nobody would go, but it was so busy and we were all dancing and stuff. I'm glad I went!
Now I'm off to work :( I feel like I've forgotten everything, im supposed to be doing parade as well, but I reckon itl rain so will probably be rained off.
Im going to have an early night tonight, I won't get back until about 8 then will probably just sleep!
Looking forward to Friday; going to go to hooters and get beer and wings! Then Sunday will hit house of blues again :) so only 4 days of work!
I also have my social security thing on Friday at 6 am, so that will be a long day!

Totally forgot to mention the fact on the first parade I did, im just standing there then a bird pooed right on my shoulder! I was like OMG but there were guests around so I had to be like oh it's funny, so I went to the bathroom and cleaned it off, bloody hell, joys of working in a jungle! Luckily I had my hair up so it didn't go in my hair!

Two days off

Oh hi there,

 Woooo I had two days off! I soooo needed them, I finished work at 7 on Sunday, though I thought I finished at 6 so was mentally prepared then realised I finished at 7, that was not good! The nemo girls gave me a ride home, this is awesome them living next to me and having a car, woo! So then I spoke to Kirsty and she said she was heading to the House of Blues, so even though my hair was greasy I had like an hour to get ready and go. I went to Vista for predrinks, Vista is very different to here, its no where near as nice. But it was nice to see everyone.

 House Of Blue, well getting in was like a airport security check! You got IDed and got a wrist band before you'd got anywhere close to the entrance, then you got IDed again to check you were defs over 21, then you got IDed again with your Disney ID, so you got in free, then you got bag searched and body searched!!! So once in, it was packed, so so busy, but really cool. The guys here are very forward and very touchy feely, like as soon as I walked in this guy was offering my drinks, another was grabbing my hand, etc etc, but hey if they have open bar tabs, so got some free drinks, then ran away. But awesome night. We then went back to this flat, opposite chatham, its called like Discovery Palms or something, for an after party, but it was a bit weird, it was like a bachelor pad, I think 3 guys lived there, I had a right snoop around. Anyway so we played a bit of drinking jenga, which every block had something written on it that you had to do, which nobody did because it was creepy and we wern't that drunk!

 So I went to bed around 5am, got up at 10, because I wanted to sunbathe, just went to Chatham pool, which is lush, and chilled, saw a few different people throughout the day. Then later on went to Publix to get some drink, and then got ready. I also had a nap because I felt very rough!!

 It was me, Nicola, Hannah and their 2 french room mates, who are nice, we played ring of fire, I had to ask the guys in my block for some playing cards because we dont have any, they are an essential item and we must invest!! But then Hannah decided she wasn't going to come out because she had work the next day, like an 11 hour shift, so probably a good idea! But it was sad that she didn't come.

 So we went to a bar called Falafel Lounge, which was cool, $1, but only got one drink then saw all the promoter guys, and they all recognised me from the previous night and wanted us to join them in their VIP bit, with a bottle of Grey Goose vodka, so that was good! Then they gave us a lift home, they alllll have very nice cars here, its redic! We went via Maccy D's and bought hannah some food to cheer her up and left her a note with it! So yes, another really good night!

 This morning, I woke up at 10:45 ish and we decided to get the 11:15 bus to the Polynesian resort, oh my gosh, its amazing, has a private beach, its lush, soooo relaxing, so we chilled there, with the view of Cinderellas Castle, the wedding pavillion and the Grand Floridian hotel so a good few hours, then hopped on the boat and zoomed across to Magic Kingdom. Though we were both tired, it was really good, now I actually feel like I've been on some rides! We stayed for the parade and then headed home.

 So thats pretty much my days off, Im still full of cold, but I dont think going out two nights is going to help, but time is going so fast I have to make the most of every bit of spare time!
 Im going to the character breakfast at Vista tomorrow, free food and characters, then off to work at 12:15. In for four days, then off for two, woop! 

 Im so tired, but need to shower then sleep! 

 Carrie, my roommate is not back yet, hhmmm, shes probs sick of my rocking in at 3/4/5 am! I try and be quiet!
 Another thought, Americans are strange, in a good way, they just say what they are thinking, like I got on a bus to go to Vista and this bus driver woman was like 'oh hey youre so beautiful, you got on my bus the other day, and I saw you, are you a princess? You should be modelling' So I was like, strange, then explained Im too tall to be a princess, but she was lovely. But they guys are the same, ive had so much, 'hey beautifu' 'hey barbie' (i took that as a compliment) and they like stop cars and invite you place, its crazy!

Fully fledged Disney

Oh hi there,

So I have successfully earned my ears!!! Wooo, the assessment was basically another day of training, win a little test, which I had already seen and the I got a little certificate, and got to remove my 'earning my ears' pin.
Yesterday was my first day on my own, it was fine. I was supposed I have the house centre at the 3pm show, but swapped as that's the busiest show, on my first day, no thanks! I've started making friends with everyone at work, they all seem nice and there's already a new ICP from uk, so I'm not even the new kid!
Last night just chilled with the girls, can't remember if I said or not, the previous night I went to Epcot.
Despite being here for two weeks, I have only been on about 3 rides and I've not even been in a pool! If it's sunny when I finish work I will go in the pool, an after today I'm off for 2 days, Yey! Then I'm in for 4 days then of for 2 again, seems too good to be true!
I'm missing fresh food really badly, I just can't afford it! A bag of ten clementines, guess how much? $8!!! A bag of 5 apples $5!!! There's me thinking we were in the state fresh oranges!!??
I've decided I could not live here, too expensive and they work too hard..
And I never want to share a room again, I get on fine with my roomie, I just dont like living in other peoples mess!
9 weeks time and I will have finished work! That's crazy, 2 weeks has gone in a flash!
Will update with what I get up to on my days off!
And suppose I should wish a happy fathers day, incase pops reads this. Xxx

Assessment day!

Oh hi there,

I didn't write anything last night, mainly because I didn't really have anything to write about. Had more training, more e learning. The excitement of the day was a huge huge storm, so when I was supposed to have parade training the parade was canceled and we all got wet! Luckily I had my rain gear in my bum bag!
I had my first go of being house centre, which is the worst position, it's the hardest! I mean I'm sure it will all come with time but right now it seems hard!
Tonight there's a cast appreciation event which called Kali Kool Down. When the ride closes ( rapids ) we all get to go on as many times as we like, and we get free ice cream! Then we are going to hit some theme parks, tonight and tomorrow. Its a bit annoying that we all work different days, so it's hard to plan a night out'.
Oh man it's not even 9am and it is hot out!
Last night I attempted laundry, I wasnt running out of underwear, as I brought heaps, I just felt I should do some, so I washed all my towels, even my costume, even though I've got 5 sets! You can pay on card which is cool, it should have taken two hours, for a wash and then dry, however mine took 3 as I put my clothes in the dryer, came back an hour later. Looked up at the one above and thought to myself, how odd it's on but got nothing in. Turns out I'd paid and then turned the wrong one on. So I was up until 11 waiting for my clothes.
I also have a cold, must just be freshers flu, new people, new environment! But I feel bad sitting on the bus spreading my germs!

This is a short one

Oh hi there, 

 I am currently in bed, I can here fireworks, not sure which park they are from, but just thought I'd throw that our there!
 Today was another day of training, I start at 8:30, and finished at 5, I like this shift as our first show isnt until 11, so you have ages of just checking stuff. Then I was out in the sun for a couple of hours, wow it was hot hot hot. DAK is the hottest park of all, as the plants make it more humid and its supposed to feel like a jungle. Great news for my hair!

 So I am going to have a killer tan, between my boots and shorts, and my arms. Apparently its like a Southern/Farmer tan! So I will look like a hillbilly yeeeehar!

 Tomorrow I have training for one of the hardest postiions, but I'm sure with time they will all become normal and easy. I all have parade training which will be cool, as I think Hannah does as well :)

 Tonight after work I came back (which takes about an hour from leaving to being in my apartment) if I had a car, it would be 10/15 mins!! Then Hannah and I walked to a steak house, had my first american steak this summer, wooo it was amazing, reallly seriously good! Cheaper than park food, well better value! So thats nice! The guys next door keep inviting me round to parties, but they are under 21 and yes I will be friends, but I really am just not risking being around under ages and alcohol, its not worth it!
 Thats about all, so far Im enjoying work, training is good. My job is rare that we have a gap twice when we dont have shows, so we clean a little bit and just do whatever.

 I also saw a massive grass hopper today, HUGE. I also met a weird guy at work, he was like 'omg youre from england, one of my favourite countries!!!' I was like 'Oh youve been?' He was like 'No but my favourite band is from there/' I was like who? Then he broke out into song, I was like omg cring we are not on Glee and I dislike the beetles. But sooo funny because Hannah was like, I met this weird guy, and turns out it was the same one! There are defs some strange folk here!
 And thats it!

First Day

Oh hi there,

 Today I had my first day of on the job training, and I'm pleased to say I think im going to enjoy this job, not sure if I could do it for a life time but 3 months will be perfect. I have two trainers at the moment as one of then is shadowing the main one, and I have an assessment on Friday, but if you get answers wrong its not like you fail, its more like you talk about the right answer.

 So I got to watch the show, theres shows at 11,12,1,3,5,6 so thats nice so in the gap, between 1-3 once youve done a wee clean (which there isnt much as youre not allowed food/drinks inside the theatre) you can kind of chill, unless youre on your break! The show is awesome, its really good.

 The people I'm working with, a lot of them have been there a long time, I dont think theres any other college programmers, maybe one girl. But they are all friendly, and switch between languages from English to Spanish, it makes me jel! Another good thing is, you can't work 12 hour shifts if you wanted to, as we are not open 12 hours. After the final show, if you are in until 9, youre just outside greeting people. 

 I am now logged onto the Hub so I can see when im working, pretty much every day until Monday and Tuesday off, so thats good, I wanna go out Sunday night! Im mostly doing 8 hour shifts, but some days I've got like 6 hours ish, so thats good. But I think we are short staffed so will probably be in a lot! But once Im not running around like a headless chicken, its actually really easy I think! Though theres a lot to remember. 

 Thats all really, I dont know what else to say, my boots were comfy. They were shocked that my old hair hadn't been acceptable and they said I would be fine to go blonde again. So thats good!

More dimes spent..

Oh hi there,

 Firstly let me announce, it had not rained, yippeeeeeee!!! I woke up, was supposed to lie in, but seem to have forgotten how, hit the gym, then the pool to enjoy the sun. Great start to the day. Then Hannah and I went shoe shopping, now normally this would be a grand day out, however this was work shoes and dimes I did not want to spend. 

 I had to find 'brown polish able hiking boots'. Now I know the costumes are all part of the 'show' but I am in a theatre, why do I need hiking boots?!? I thought my costume may have been a bit more colourful, with it being Nemo, like tropical but hey ho, its not too bad! So I looked in a few shops in the mall then found Timberland, which was reccomended, and they had lots of boots, the classic Timberland ones were like $90, but I think they are more tan leather, not that I wanted those ones. There were a cheaper pair but they had blue on and I didn't want to risk buying them, wearing them one day, them not being right, and not being able to return them!! Sooo in the end I found a pair for $80, but then got 20% for working for Disney so it came to around $63. Not $63 I wanted to spend on hiking boots, urgh. Oh well, no use complaining, I knew there would be costs and maybe one day I will use them again. Or I will stick them on Ebay!

Hannah got a pair of Sketchers for $30 but she only needed black trainers. We then came back, I put my boots on and walked around the flat and decided they were not comfortable, so I RAN back to the mall, in 35 mins from leaving my door I had swapped the shoes over for a bigger size, but geeez I was sweaty. Note to self, do not run in midday sun in Florida!

 We then went to Hollywood Studios, went on Great Movie Ride, the host wasnt as good as I'd hoped, then Rocking Rollercoaster, amazing as always, then got some snacks, then met Nicola and some others and went on the Muppets 3D show, I still dont get the muppets really, they are annoying. Then watched Fantasmic. So a really nice day. I feel like the holiday is over now as I am working for the next 4 days, possibly more as I cant get logged onto the Hub yet to see. Im really quite nervous for tomorrow. I have so many questions to ask, but im sure they will have done it a million times before!

 I start at 10am, but Im going to arrive for 9:15 as the other bus was 9:45 and I don't want to risk it, being late on the first day would not be a good start!

 My alarm is set. Wish me luck!

First night out. VIP style.

Oh hi there,

 I will start from where I left off, saying that I don't remember where I left off, so I will start with last night. So after getting back from DAKlamations, I just chilled, washed my hair and I even had a nap! I do not like napping, and it was only half an hour, but when you are here, you just never stop and I wanted energy for the night out. I then took my wine and went across to Nicola and Hannahs apartment, its literally across the street, I can see it from my window! We had a drink and I'd hooked us up with the party bus! The guys from above me wanted to predrink and whatever, but they are under 21 and its really not worth the risk, so Im literally not making friends with the littleins, they are all American so it must be normal for then but I do feel sorry for the ICPers that are under 21! 

 At 11:20 we headed for the bus, which I broke the seal before we left, and when I got on the bus I thought there was a toilet, soon found out it was out of order so by the time we picked everyone up I reckon it must have been a hour before we got there, I was nearly wetting myself!!!! It was $10 for the bus there and back and the club entry, really not bad.

 We got in the club and this woman was like 'Hey are you girls over 21? do you girls want free drinks and VIP?' Obviously there is only one answer to this. So she took us to this area that was just VIP, overlooking the club, they brought over a bottle of vodka, like a full litre, and good vodka too, and loads of ice, whatever mixers we wanted. THEN they brought shots, THEN the general manager came over and introduces himself and hes like 'whatever you girls want you can have on us'. It was too good to be true, like all shots, any alcohol, just AMAZING! I felt like at the end we would get a HUGE bill, but we didn't! It was just such a good night. They said we could come back any time and get the same treatment, awesome!!!

Then we got the bus back, Nicola was sick, lols then when we got back to Chatham Nicola was being sick in the bushes outside, security came over... One IDed her, and the other was like 'do you need me to call the police?' but Nicola is over 21, so they asked her questions like her room number, her DOB and then decided she was coherent and sent us on our way. But it really put it into perspective how strict they are! I mean if she was under 21 we'd all be on a flight home right now! I also reckon if she'd not been able to answer the questions they would have called an ambulance or something, they are crazy!

 SO that was that, awesome awesome night, put Nicola to bed, her french room mate wasnt happy when we switched the light on, but its like sorry youre sharing a room get used to it! I came back to bed, passed out, didnt even hear Carrie getting ready this morning. Then got up and Hannah and I went for a nice chill at Typhoon Lagoon as we were a bit fragile it was an amazing cure, all for free, just fab, we were sitting there and we were like just saying we are so happy and content! - Though that will probably change when we starting work!

 We then came back and showered etc, made reservations for a place in Hollywood Studios, got there, went on Tower Of Terror, which as always was awesome and then we started to find the restaurant, but the heavens opened, it had been soooo lovely all day, reallly sunny, then this massive storm hit, and 3 of the girls didnt have rain gear, so we went to the nearest place to eat, so wasnt the night we had planned but still nice night. I was even cold in the rain, shock horror! Cold in Florida, say whaaaaat!!

 Tomorrow me and Hannah are off still, so morning is going to be the mall, I will be buying my stupid hiking boots, and we will do some washing. - Not sure how that will go as Hannah thought that the washing tablet we got free were just nice smellly things for your drawers, this made me cry with laughing. Sillly.  Then we will spend the afternoon in the parks.

 Literally do not stop! Though having a lie in as it may be the last for a while!  I keep writting this before I go to bed so im so sleepy and will probably forget stuff!

DAKLAMATIONS

Oh hi there, 

 Today was Daklamations (Disney's Animal Kingdom Orientation) was had to be at the bus stop for 7:30, which was painful as this morning was the first morning I thought, yes I could really sleep in for ages here. So we got the bus to DAK and upon arrival had a full on inspection of the Disney Look, I wasnt worried, but I was glad I had done my hair for this. They really were strict, they made people get changed into Disney Chinos that were so ill fitted, so I was glad my cropped khapris pants were acceptable. Once we were through the check they gave us a bit of paper with our job on, I am on the Nemo muscial, it's a bit like the West End Lion King, in that its all puppets. My uniform is not too hideous and my hours are too good to be true at the moment so Im so pleased!!!

 So anyway we had lots of information about DAK,some of it was really interested, then after about 2 hours we went on a tour around the park. Disney really do pay attention to EVERY single detail, its just increbible and the trainers knowledge is just ridiculous! This tour then ended with a ride on the safari, and Hannah and I (DIsney regulars) were waiting for the 'OMG we seem to have a poacher etc' however, this never came! They have taken it away! Shock!! But then finally it was 12:30 and time for lunch! American is awful for eating healthy, I got a salad it was $6.80, the person in front got burger and fries for $4.20!!

 So after lunch it wassssssss COSTUME!!! wooooo, wowza the costume places are amaze, soooo many different outfits. So I got my outfit, tried it on, had to change sizes once as the sizes are sooo weird, see facebook for further information / pictures of my outfit. Its really not bad, and I got a hat, incase I want to hide my hair, a rain coat (much needed) but I need to buy bloody hiking boots, timberlands! Urgh!!!! BUt hey ho, ive got shorts woooo! And my hours are going to be good, so I am one happy girl!

 We are going out tonight, hopefully the torential rain, that I got caught in will not come back and it will be a good night.

 Then tomorrow, is the last day of free entry for the water parks, so heading there.

 Need to wash my hair.

Traditions

 Oh hi there,

 Today has been yet another busy day! I woke up around 8am, just because I started thinking about Traditions and getting worried, and Id already planned to go to the outlets with Nicola, but text her to see if she'd be ready earlier, and she was, so we both must be still on UK time a bit. We we walked the whole 10 times to the Premium Outlets, and then got there at like half 9 and the shops arnt open until 10, so that was annoying!! But its heaven, theres so much I want already, but I was good and only bought essential items, which were a pair of AE flip flops, as I couldn't find havs there and mine have actually fallen apart. I then saw a lovely Ralph pair, but one is enough, for now. 

 We then headed back and got ready for traditions!! I had my hair in a low pony to cover any light bit, as im sure its getting blonder by the hour and I haven't even washed it yet!!?!Pictures will follow for my outfit. We got the bus, it was maybe a 20 min journey to Disney University, which was exciting, and then once we got there they did not inspect us, in my head, after the hair ordeal I was expecting to be like strip searched for any hidden piercings or something, but I am loathed to say it, I reckon my hair would have been fine! But Im sure its going to wash out and go blonde in the sun, if the sun ever comes back.

 So Traditions was actually really fun, well semi fun, well less boring than I thought, it was super enthusiastic and we had to woop and clap for everything. But we did learn lots about the history, etc, it was interesting. Then we went to Magic Kingdom, which was reallly cool, but I don't think its a good idea to post all the 'secrets' we found out! ooooooooooooooooo! And then Mickey came and dropped our badges off, in case you are wondering, people dressed up still freak me out, but it was quite nice.

 So I now am in possesion of my Abigail, Whitley Bay, UK badge and my cast member card which will get me in free!!

 After Traditions we went back to get changed then went back to Magic Kingdom, but only from 9-11, so did a couple of rides like Buz, and Stitches great escape and It's a small world. It was raining (standard) but it reallly didnt stop the magic.

 I probs have more to say but I'm knackered and have a 6:30 alarm set so I can get my 7:30 bus to DAK (disney animal kingdom) woooo FINALLY find out where I will be, but any of the theatre rides I'd be pleased with.

Update on the nighthair situation an POOL PARTYYY

 Oh hi there, 

 We are now talking in 2012 A.B (after blonde).

So in the second round of meetings, where they give you a load of paper work, then take it away, then give you it back, and so on and so on, it really is amazingly well organised, but what else would you expect? The first woman I went to was the woman who was like 'noooo you're hair isn't suitable' and I didn't want to say anything in case she was like, your hair is still not suitable, so I just smiled and moved on ASAP. However I got to the next one and she came over, and was like ' I thought it was you, you've done you're hair already?' I was like 'yes', 'She was like oh it should be fine now, did you do it yourself?' So I explained that I asked a hairdresser, but it was going to cost $80-$150 so I did it myself. She said it was fine, then left me to it. Phew. HOWEVER the woman who was telling me about my job etc was asking me what I had to do to my hair, so I showed her my pass, with a pic of what it was and she was like 'I wouldn't have made you do anything to it' I was like ........ lahflakdbckjadhv.... But still was not worth the risk!

 So then on my last desk of paper worky things, the original guy who started this issue came over and was like 'oh hey Abigail, great hair, do you like it?' Of course the ideal repsonse was ' YES ITS GREAT I LOVE BEING MOUSEY BROWN' but i was like 'No I dont'. But at least I can sleep easy knowing its going to pass the test tomorrow.

 However whilst this was going on, I found I would be in Animal Kingdom, on a theatre attraction, so something like Lion King, Finding Nemo, Its tough to be a bug... Any of them would be awesome and the hours are totes the best outta the parks. So I'm super happy about this :D 

 Moving on from hair, obviously the rain has not stopped but we still went to the pool party, which was AWESOME! I didn't bother putting on a bikini, as I knew Id end up in the pool, because the chlorine would strip the colour out of my hair, which would be fine, once I start working, but not before tomorrow! But we danced on stages and raved in the rain, met Minnie Mouse, got free pizza, was just a good time. Literally have not had that much fun sober in a long time!

 Met lots of new people, including the guys who live in the flat that I can hear music coming from all the time! So I am happy here in Chatham. Was going to go out tonight but decided that I would not be able to resist alcohol and I doubt smelling like vodka would be a good idea in Traditions!

 So Traditions tomorrow, then guess when I start.... SAT 8am!!! But Sunday off, maybe have to go to Typhoon Lagoon as cast free entry runs out on the 10th waaa and I don't want to pay!

What a night-hair

Oh hi there,

 Si its my own fault for posting so much but here is the story of the hair...

 We went to the first meeting of the day and there was a massive queue and you went in groups of 6 and we realised they were checking the Disney Look.. So then everyone in my group were told to leave then me and CHarlotte had to stay... He was like to her, 'your hair is a definate no' and to me 'yours in boredline'. He said, its really natural looking, it may be fine at traditions, but they could turn you away, he even got a second opinion and they both didnt know.. So then we went in, found our seat, I was next to Rebecca, another English girl who was also in the same situation about hair. Then this girl came over and was like 'Are you Abigail?' I was like 'Yes' - at this point i was on my phone, I was like oh no im in trouble, but she took me outside and there was 4 people all looking at my hair like going 'ermmmm im not sure, maybe if the back looked like the front then that would be fine, its just the front bit you can see 2 colours' I was like soooooooo what should I do, low lights or high lights????? Their answer was 'Just make it look natural' and gave me a list of salon numbers to go to. I was like ' I might have traditions at 8am, and i dont finish today until 4:30, what happens if I can't?' They were like, you have to.

 SO I was in a real bad mood, having just spent £80 the friday before I left! I felt sick, I was shaking, this may sound stupid but my hair is amazing (if i do say so myself) and its like MY THING! SO to go brunette is a major deal. 

 At this point I found out I'd be working in Animal Kingdom but I didnt really care as I was s concerned about my hair. This boring lecture went on for 90 mins, telling us not to drink blablabla. Alllll this time im like omg what do I do!?!?! By the end I'd decided I would try brunette for the summer.

 Telling people was hilarious. A lot of 'OMG IS THIS JOKE'. Just the fact that the Disney people wern't sure, I was like Ggggrrrrr!!!

 So went to a salon near Publix and she was like well you could get a toner and it would cost $80-$150 and thats just colour and she wasnt very friendly tbh. So I decided to try a semi perm colour, just to get through traditions, and it cost me $18, as I needed to because I have so much hair! And thats what I did, see my facebook for results. However the blonde is defs still there and will come back, and so I just wont wash my hair much until I've started working then be like ' the blonde is from the sun' and hopefully I will wear a hat.

 SO if you know me and are concerned about my state of mind about not being blonde, I am fine. I think. But as soon as I finish my hair will be back.

 At the end of the day, I could have risked it, or gone to Walmart, which is what Charlotte is doing, as the woman there has 20 years of Disney look creating experience. 

 Must dash, another afternoon of boring stuff

First second day

Oh hi there,

 Yes it kind of feels like a first second day, because in a way its our first day of waking up here, but yesterday was our first official day. So this morning Che (flat mate) and I went to the gym ( I KNOW as if!) it was sweaty, but felt good for it.

 We then went to Publix, which is about a 10 minute walk, and the girl we asked was like, 'you can get a bus you know' we were like hmmm I'm sure I can walk in a straight line for 10 mins! I think we managed to walk in a the only time the sun has been out today, so it was hottttt! I bought a hairdryer, which is pointless since the rain wont stop raining at the moment! However I like knowing that I have a shop nearby, so essentials such as vodka, or a pharmacy, obviously I love pharmacies.

 So after that it was time for our first welcome thing, which we had to get a bus to Vista then as predicted it was a smooth process of handing in forms, meeting security people etc. Not very exciting! Then we were free, for a bit. So had a spot of lunch then went to our next meeting which was down the road at the Commons, however the heavens OPENED and it was a torrential downpour, which meant sitting in an air conned room for 90 minutes, soaking, delightful... It was soooo boring as well, just like common sense stuff, blablabla, really though, like how to cross a road, and if youre under 21 and you drink, you will get fired, think they only mentioned that every other sentence oh  and also how to stop the water on your toilet...hmm would have been useful last night: an update on that, we are getting new carpet!!! I hope im not charged!!!!! Also saw underneath neighbours getting a new microwave, hope our flood didnt cause that... I hope im not paying! So the highlight of this meeting was when we entered there was a smoke machine and lasers, and they were like woooping and yeeeeaaaahhhhh ing because they are Americans and so excited!!

 So then we got back and went to downtown Disney just to see it in the day light, which was nice, and now im back and Ive just had a cup of tea, which I had to use a pan and two mugs as the mugs are tiny! Urgh!

 First night of sharing a room went well, Carrie dried her hair at 12:30 which was slightly annoying when trying to sleep off the jetlag, and then she woke me up to ask how to turn on the tap, didn't understand what I said and so I had to get up and show her how to push it backwards. But I'm being nice and I'm sure it will be fine!

 Anywho, got an 8am start tomorrow :( xxxx

Toilet Disaster / Moving In

Oh hi there, 

 So today we had breakfast at the Holiday Inn resort, just across the way from Vista and then went to check in, there were no queues like we were expecting, we just got right in, it was very smooth. You took your bag to be ticked off a list and it was then where they told you which housing you were in, I am in Chatham, at the point of check in there was only 3 others English people going there, everyone else was at VIsta, so it was a little bit daunting as I had kind of assumed I would be there too, but anywho, I wasnt really bothered about loosing the safety net of the friendships id formed over one night!

 So we got dropped off at our flats, mine is an 8 bedroom flat, obviously all girls. One british, one itlaian, 3 french and havnt met the last one yet! The girls downstairs came to introduce themselves, they are lovely, all from USA and love the english accent and like to party so hopefully make friends with them! They said Chatham is like Vista but cleaner, which is good!

 Right so the toilet disaster, having been to walmart, and spent $203 on essential items, genuinely essentials! Came back here, trying to set the wireless router up and then i went for a wee, flushed the toilet and the water never stopped coming, I was like OMG!!!!!! So called the reception, closes at 5pm, it was 6:30pm, so spoke to security, said we had a flood, they were like you need a plunger, we were like okay well we need a mop as well, they were like is it really that bad? We were like yes! So then they sent for help, we got back and downstairs were like omg its leaking into our flat, but they knew how to switch the water off, so they did. So then the guys come and they are like 'who did this?' im like 'me, I went to the toilet' he gave me like a 'what did you do in there' look and i was like, I HAD A WEE!!! So then they cleaned it up, but the carpet in the hall is sooo wet so they have these drier things and the guy was like 'you need to make a statement because Im not sure if they will charge you.' I was like WHAAATTTT!?!?! So i made my statement, literally said, I had a wee, used two bits of toilet roll and flushed, and this second guy was like its just a proceedure we have to do it, you should be fine.

 I am bloody not paying any charges for flushing a toilet! And now in another bathroom the light has gone! Though if im honest I thought the flats would be cleaner. But ive lived in halls, im sure I will survive! Though I may not go to the toilet again!

I'm in Orlando!!

Oh hi there,
It's currently just before 8am and I'm in bed using the free wifi in the Holiday Inn.
Let's talk about the journey: left Newcastle at 6am, uneventful, arrived at Amsterdam, very short flight, again uneventful. Left Amsterdam to go to Atlanta, the flight was fine, slept maybe an hour, but there was lots of free drinks and the food was really good! Watched the new mission impossible and stupid crazy love, both films average.
Once we arrived at Atlanta, the queue for immigration was HUGE, we only had 2 hours to get our next flight!! We were a little panicked but there was nothing we could do. After about and hour and a half we made it through, everything was fine with the visas and it was very smooth getting through.
We there met up with 3 other Disney cast members which was nice! So then got on our final flight and landed I. Orlando Wooo! The 6 of us then shared a taxi to the hotel which was $10 each which was good and checked in. Also our 4th room member met us which was lovely.
Probably the best shower I'd had, felt so good to wash and put clean pants on!
We all planned to go to the Applebys in the hotel but for the 14 of us would have been at 45 min wait so went to Wendy's across the road, hopefully the fast food will stop here!
We ended up crashing about 9:50 as we were all so tired could barely speak! It's hard to be sociable when you've not slept for 24 hours! The pool at this hotel is lovely! Can't wait to swim!
So I'm just waiting for everyone else to wake then see what the plan is, probably eat then chill then head on over to vista to check in!
